I chose Animas because in middle school, I went to Miller for 6th and 7th grade, and Mountain in 8th grade. When I was in 7th grade, some of my friends were really mean. At the beginning of 7th grade, I applied to go to Mountain. I later found out that I got in. Going to a project based school helped me learn and restart because I didn’t have really good grades in 6th and 7th grade. I really liked Mountain and got better grades. My sister really liked it here, and her Junior year, she spent a semester in Ecuador. I thought that maybe I wanted to do that. I also really wanted to go to school with her for a year. A project based school is right for me because I feel like I need to manage my time wisely. That teaches me about responsibility. Also, the college acceptance rate impressed me. If I hadn’t gone to Animas, I think that I wouldn’t be as happy, and would struggle with school work and drama. At Animas, you feel like you’re part of a family. I like feeling like I’m valued and wanting to come to school everyday. If I had stayed at Miller, I think that I would have been persuaded to go to DHS.
